I have booked camp spots for 10 people in Victoria West for the Pretoria BMW club. Camping will be R50pppd.
Should you not want to camp I suggest you arrange your accommodation today. I just spoke to Christine Slabbert and they might still have place for 10 people in the school residence. The accomodation in the school residence is R100pppd and includes breakfast. Note that you have to bring your own bedding!!! Apparantly there are some B&B options left.
Contact the following numbers if you intend not to camp ASAP:
For guest house accommodation, call Nel at 053 621 0453 or email: nkingwill@xsinet.co.za
For school hostel accommodation, call Christine Slabbert on 053 621 0106
For campsites, call Petro Hendrickz on 053 621 0142

We had an offer from Jannie of Sannieshof. Instead of staying over in Kimberley on our way back, we can visit him on the farm. Lots of green grass for camping and limited beds are available. A braai will be held in true Sannieshof fashion.
This means that we only have to do 300km's on the last day to Pretoria. I will update the trip route and plan as soon as I have confirmed all the details with Jannie.
Of course those who prefer the Kimberley "Hole" can still stay over there should they wish. (Although you might miss a party of note)

Just got this of the ABBG site www.bmw-motorrad-ag.co.za/ : Seems that the GS ride will be a splendid ride. "Offroad at the Annual Gathering 2007 The recommended off-road route at this year's Annual Gathering in Victoria West is a little gem - with facets to light up the life of both experts and newcomers. "It's just 103 km of dirt, but it's going to take two or three hours to complete, and offers absolutely everything: interesting surfaces, incredible scenery and lots of wildlife," says Deon Meyer, who recce's the route earlier this week. A taste of what's to come... With the focus on activities at the 2007 Gathering itself, the organising team decided to develop just one tar and dirt route each, which will be mapped, described and offered as a GPS download (people who have registered for the Gathering will receive full details via e-mail soon). "The challenge was to offer a ride which would not keep riders away from the fun in town for a whole day, but really offered a bit of everything to everybody." The difficulty of the route will be determined by the speed of the rider. Deon recommends that novices take it easy: "There are a couple of wash-aways, a river crossing and one short stretch of sand to look out for, but if you go slow, you'll be fine," The route crosses private farm land, exclusively made available to BMW riders at the Gathering. * Participants at the Gathering are most welcome to explore the region on their own, should they decide to more riding. The route can be mapped on 'Google Earth'"

Great. Now you don't have to take the warm water bag along. I guess we will not see the HP2 on this trip then???

I would like for everybody to meet so that we can discuss the following for this trip: - Participants for Baviaanskloof trip - Participants for ABBG - Consolidation for camp cutlery/stoves/pots/food etc - Confirmation of numbers for camping and B&B at Sannieshof (Braai at R60pp, Breakfast at R40pp, BB in town at R150 pp if not camping). The meeting is to be held at 17:30 on Friday 13 April at Cafe Barcelona, Elardus Park shopping center, Corners of Barnard and Delmas (R50) roads. If you are not able to make the meeting please let me know whether you will be camping/BB at Sannieshof and whether you would join for the Braai and/or Breakfast.
I need to let Jannie of Sannieshof know by Saturday the numbers to prepare for. Please help to ensure that they can do their preparations by giving your accommodation and meal info before Friday 13 April if you are participating.
