Brian had a fall today.
Bus turned right and indicated at the last minute. Brian was passing on right and bike went under the bus.
He is currently in a hospital in Welkom with a broken pelvis and first rib. Not sure what hospital.
He is fine and talking.

He is in Medi Clinic Welkom.
Apart from the injuries listed above, his heart is bruised and irregular. He will remain in ICU in Welkom until his heart stabilizes before he can be transferred to Jhb/Pta

Latest update from Think Bike forum: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just got a scary call from Blackie and he asked me to post this... not sure how to write it... Bucc is taking some strain at the moment with his breathing, something to do with liquid in the lungs. I guess it's side effects from the bruising that he has in the chest area. Please pray that Bucc gets through this hurdle and starts healing soon, he needs our prayers and positive energy right now. Blackie will most likely drive through to Welkom in the early hours of the morning with Fran to support the big man. Thanks Dave for supplying the link to club members. As the thread is populating so fast due to Brian’s profile, it might be difficult to follow updates on his condition.
Here is the latest as reported by Kevin (Riverrat) and lifted from the TB site
"Feedback from the doctors via Blackie is as follows:
The medics run regular blood-enzyme and blood-toxin tests to assert the current status. From the information obtained, they have advised Blackie as follows:
The widespread muscle bruising is causing break-down by-products and toxins to build up in the bloodstream. Because the heart is compromised there is also less circulation thru the kidneys and through the peripheral organs.... leads to more tissue break-down and more toxins. The kidneys are not coping in excreting the toxin overload enough, and that itself is damaging his kidneys more. The end result, where we are now, is the beginning of multiple organ failure. That is serious. the doctors are putting Buccs at a 50-50 survival chance.
At this stage there is no pneumonia, but it is a very real risk.
His pelvis is broken front and back, and requires surgery, but this has been put on hold until Buccs is stable enough to handle an anaesthetic"

This is a sad day indeed, when one of the flamboyant figures of BMW bking and biking in general passes away. It is irronic that Brian being the flagholder for safety in biking be taken out by an unsafe bus driver. It is always sad when one loses a friend. We have al known Brian for a shorter and/or longer time depending on your time in the saddle and as a member of the club. Brian will be missed - I dont think anybody will be able to take his place in the biking community. To his family - our condolences and thoughts will be with you in this time. May you find the strenght and peace to get throught it. Regards, LeRoy

I am shocked to hear the sad news. RIP BUCC. I will never forget our Buffalo Extreme Gold trip, where I really got to know Brian as a loyal friend and a passionate biker. His love for the marque and his influence on the unique culture of our club will always be remembered. My condolences to Fran and the family.
