;DSummary:
StarCom1 is small, not expensive, easily expandable and a Quality product. It really solves the problem of communications on a bike, both with the pillion and via cellular phone and walkie-talkie.
Strap a tiny portable MP3 player or FM radio on your bike, plug it in and go. Instant entertainment with automatic music override when you speak. No more messing with tapes and bulky CDs. Hook up your Cell phone, set it to auto answer mode and receive your calls automatically!
Sheer pleasure and a new freedom, never before available at this price.
Market:
All People (Bikers, Micro light Pilots, Cyclists, Racing Drivers, Bike and Quad Racers, Bike School Instructors and Canoeists, etc.) want to be able to, like Car drivers or pedestrians and other normal folk, talk to their loved ones and friends doing the same or another activity, conduct business if the need arises, handle an emergency or listen to music or the radio.
The technology to allow them to do this is here! A racing Instructor or Pit crew at a race needs to communicate to the rider and the rider to them to optimise their performance. Now it?s easy and cost effective to do so.
Installation:
It?s easy and quick to install the StarCom1 unit. It comes with a comprehensive manual written in clear English, this is not on of those translated mishaps normally included with cheap products. Hook up the power to a 12Volt supply, all the cabling and mounting stuff is included and strap the unit in a cool dry place, under your seat is a good choice.
Installing the speakers and microphone in your helmet is a 10-minute job, easy.
Plug in the extender cable for your helmet (2 if you install the pillion kit as well) and make some adjustments before you close up. The unit switches itself on and off as needed, so your battery cannot run down. Plug in a good quality MP3 player and your cellphone and go.
Usability:
Automatic volume control works like magic, the faster you go, the louder the volume in your headphones. The StarCom1 compensates automatically for wind noise the faster you go so there is no need to shout to be heard. Cellular speech is clear even above 200kph.
VOX (the Voice activated speech) is a bit tricky to adjust properly, but once set works. Speak up and be heard, by your pillion, your office or anybody else you care to contact. There is a PTT (Press To Talk) button for walkie-talkies available so you ma have a private conversation with your pillion.
All sorts of gadgets can be integrated to the system. For instance Radar/Laser detectors with audio output, GPS Navigation system with voice prompt and many more. Let?s take the GPS for example: With the SA street maps now available, the GPS can tell you where to turn, no need to look at the screen and not the road. You cannot miss your turns anymore.
